Interactive Projection Mapping
To mark the opening of their new warehouse complex—International Park of Commerce—in Tracy, California, Prologis sought a presentation space that was both visually striking and strategically informative. Instead of a conventional architectural model, we designed a room-sized interactive display that functions as both a live spatial map and an artistic relief.
The 20-foot wall installation features physical blocks representing existing buildings, while the surrounding site—leased areas, available lots, and future developments—is animated through projection mapping. Based on the original architectural masterplan, the installation transforms spatial planning into a dynamic visual narrative.
As Technical Director, I led the software and hardware development. I partnered with an AV integrator on equipment and system design, and developed both the projection-mapped front end and a custom content management system that allows the Prologis team to easily update building names, availability, and site information as the development evolves. A key technical challenge involved reconciling projected content across varying physical depths—since visuals landed both on the wall and on protruding 3D blocks. I simulated and corrected for the shadows cast by the blocks to ensure clarity and continuity in the projection.
The installation supports real estate presentations through three interactive lenses, accessible via a touchscreen tablet:
Building Info – tap on individual buildings to reveal current status and key details
Transportation – explore proximity to major freight infrastructure: air, rail, ground, and maritime routes
Market Access – view data on nearby labor pools and commercial hubs
Each lens activates its own set of animations and overlays, enabling the sales team to tailor their narrative depending on the audience. The result is a permanent installation that blends architectural storytelling with responsive, adaptive media—a tool that is both expressive and practical, designed to grow with the site it represents.
